Last night we worked up the first round of take-offs. Initially, I did not know what “take-offs” were, not in this context anyway. In the end, it’s just a 3D “story problem” to determine how much material of what sort will be required to build.
If two walls are 14 foot high and 24 foot long and two walls are 14 foot high and 16 foot long, plus a gable at a 12:12 pitch, and your studs are spaced at 16 inches on center, how many 2 by 8s are required and of what length?
With these answers I was able to send my list of desires off to ProBuild for pricing and shipment info. I’m hopeful that they can deliver (pun intended)! More on that tomorrow perhaps.
Today I also spent a thrilling 35 minutes at the bank opening a checking account especially for this build project. It’s going to be easier on me to track expenditures in a discrete account, plus I can hand a debit card over to my brother and send him shopping if need be. Now why it took 35 minutes to open an account at a bank where I already have one, I cannot say. Dumb.
