“Nondisplaced distal radius fracture.” I never knew what that meant. Now I can tell you. It means

  • one-handed typing
  • asking someone to open the peanut butter jar for me
  • difficulty folding laundry
  • trouble putting my hair up
  • making multiple trips to carry a few things
  • setting things down to open a door

It also means feeling grateful for all the fully functioning body parts that I do have.

Leila, OUCH! indeed!

I’ve recently gotten the Ordinary Beauty feed coming to my email, so I’m staying current. I love, love, love your blog. I find it tugs at my heart strings in some indescribably evocative way. In a rush of sadness, but mostly excitement about your move, I emailed you asking if we could visit…. and neglected to say that we will miss your energy around here. We never have seen you much, but I nevertheless consider you part of our local family, so in that respect, we will note with wistfullness that inviting you to our next occasional event will seem more of a formality from now on. But then you might decide to make a few days visit out of it. Or, at least until your next adventure, which may or may not bring you back. Though, somehow, I know you belong out there in Malo. Well, but you will miss the buzz of the city and all it has to offer at times, too, no doubt. Sigh/Grin (could that equal “sing”? “singh” “sringh”? grigh doesn’t work…)

Stay well, write well, and HEAL!

Much love,

PS: I assume you review all comments before posting, so I’m just going to go ahead and post.

Dear Clooie,

I’m delighted that you’ve my blog feeding to your inbox; your encouragement has always meant a lot to me.

I’d say more, but I haven’t yet the knack of one-handed typing …
