taking flight – simulation or “real”

December 9, 2008

Geez. You’re probably as tired as I am about my blabbering about my failed marriage. I mean, move on already girl; it has been an entire month after all since you got the news [she mumbles sarcastically].

No, but really. Moving on.

My shaman, Elke Macartney, says that when something appears three times, one needs to pay especial attention. (She elaborates that sometimes the “thing” will appear in different forms.)

Well, there was that thwarted plan to para-glide. And Second, on Wednesday while standing at Troll Motors waiting on my oil change, I watched the planes fly overhead and I reminisced about the days when I was in one of those little planes, landing it there at Boeing Field, and I contemplated re-igniting my pursuit of a pilot’s license.

Then Third, on Sunday, I did this little exercise called, “Who are you?/Why are you here?” and the words I kept using were fly and soar.

And then to emphasize it all, today is the launch of Topgun Sim. Talk about freaking flying.

Here’s why Topgun Sim qualifies as something beautiful (and therefore “allowed” on this here blog). I’ve watched this project since it was just a vague notion until here it is today, a full-fledged enterprise, with a full-blown Internet machine.

And I find it compelling and encouraging and freaking beautiful that a glimmer of an idea meets talent and brains and fortitude, and becomes tangible.

Now I’m just going to have to find me a hot PC set-up so I can access Topgun Sim and start flying. (I knew my new MacBook Pro would fail me somehow.)

(Have I said it lately? Creativity + brains = Sizzle Hot.)

p.s. Congrats to my BFF!
